FRRC Race Report 8/31/07

The Final Wisconsin  Sport Truck feature contest of the 2007 season presented a field of 21 drivers.  20 plus year veteran Pete Zarnoth and rookie Brad Davis brought the field to the green flag.  Zarnoth would pace the first two circuits before Scott Baker took command.  A spin before the start of lap three by newly crowned champion Dan Vixmer slowed the field.  With the green returning Baker was back out front with Jeff Van Handel and Ryan Heiting giving chase.   Van Handel ducked to the inside of Baker entering turn one on lap five annexing the top spot, with Heiting moving to second moments later.

Clear of traffic Van Handel and Heiting pulled away while third was hotly contested between Baker, Sam Haven and Ron Magdanz.  That battle became a duel for second as Heiting spun coming off turn four at the halfway point of the contest. After another quick caution, this caused by a spin by Baker, the field again resumed action.

Van Handel now had Magdanz to contend with while third presented a side by side battle between Brandon Kucksdorf and Haven.  Magdanz was able to drive deeper into the turns and surpassed Van Handel for the top spot with eight laps to go. Kucksdorf found himself in control of the third spot far behind the lead pair when second place runner Van Handel looped his ride in turn three.  The resulting yellow flag set the stage for a green, white checkered finish.

Magdanz now had Kucksdorf and Haven on his rear bumper, with Vixmer back up to fourth after his early spin and fast qualifier Kyle Quella holding down the fifth spot.

Vixmer making  great choice of lanes for the restart took the spot alongside Magdanz and at the drop of the green edged into the lead.  Working the high lane Vixmer was able to pull away from Magdanz who now had Quella to contend with.  While Vixmer would reach the finish line with a spin to win victory, Quella would make a final turn pass of Magdanz to take second.  Magdanz claimed third followed by Kucksdorf and Haven.

The buzz on the quarter-mile would mean the 19 truck Wisconsin Sport Truck main event was underway with the snowmobile engine powered mini-truck bodied machines came up to speed.  Brad Davis would pace the first two circuits before Sam Haven worked to his inside taking the lead in turn on lap three.  Jeff Van Handel would follow the move reaching second before the start of the fourth orbit around the raceway.

A spin by Tyler Vandermoss would slow the pace on lap six, however the event quickly resumed and Haven and Van Handel were set to square off for the lead.  Ryan Heiting had advanced into the third spot followed by division point leader and defending champion Dan Vixmer.

The outside line proved to be the quick route as Van Handel shot into the lead brining Vixmer with him into second. With a sweeping outside pass on lap ten Vixmer moved ahead of Van Handel for the top spot and began to pull away.

Van Handel soon found himself coming under pressure from Heiting, who would make a successful outside pass for second on lap 16.  By this time however Vixmer had built up a quarter-lap lead, extending the margin with each passing lap.  The race ran without caution with Vixmer taking his fifth victory of the season by a comfortable margin.  Heiting finished a distant second.  Third place was settled on the final lap as John Roeser and Haven ran wheel to wheel to the strip.  Roeser took the third spot by a matter of inches.  Haven would be awarded fourth with fast qualifier Kyle Quella climbing to fifth at the finish.

FRRC Race Report 8/09/07

The opening laps of a Wisconsin Sport Truck feature are always a thrill to watch as the mini-truck bodied racers go three and four wide while jockeying for position during the opening rounds.  Ryan Heiting and rookie Pat Gorchals brought the field up to speed with Heiting gaining the upper hand.  Sam Haven would move into the second spot on lap two, followed by Brandon Kucksdorf who recovered nicely from a flip earlier in the night during a heat race.  John Roeser and fast qualifier Dan Vixmer comprised the top five by the fifth lap.

Kucksdorf working the low line would drop Haven a spot on lap eight to take second and quickly closed on Heiting, applying the pressure in effort to take the lead spot.  With an inside move in turn three on lap 11, Kucksdorf's march to the front was complete as he took the lead from Heiting.  Haven would follow in Kucksdorf's tire tracks taking second before the next round.  Vixmer meanwhile was also on the move marching into the third spot with five laps to go.  However, the lead pair of Kucksdorf and Haven had built a comfortable gap.  Though Haven would continue to pressure Kucksdorf to the wire, Kucksdorf was able to end the evening in victory lane, far better then his heat race, which had finished on his roof! Haven claimed second, Vixmer third, while Heiting and Roeser would complete the top five finishers.

It would be a field of 20, taking the green flag for the snowmobile engine powered Wisconsin Sport Trucks.  Pat Gorchals, who flipped his machine during an earlier heat race would sit on the pole and battle with Sam Haven for the early lead.  Though his truck was battle scared from the earlier incident it did not affect it's speed as Gorchals took the top spot after the initial lap.  Josh Jeske and Scott Baker would move into second and third by lap two, waging a side by side battle for the second spot.

At the halfway point Gorchals maintained a two length lead on Baker, with Jeske, Brandon Kucksdorf and Haven comprising the top five.  Gorchals would bobble coming off turn four on lap 12, and in gathering up his ride, turned the lead over to Baker.  Gorchals would lose several more spots over the next two laps.

Baker would continue to set the pace narrowly missing a lapped car which had spun, but the lapped machine got pointed in the right direction swiftly enough to avoid a caution.  Baker would hold on to win the race by less than a truck length over Jeske who closed swiftly during the final lap.  Kucksdorf would settle for third, followed by Haven and Brad Davis.

FRRC Race Report 7/19/07

The Wisconsin  Sport Truck main event went green with 20 drivers brining up the pace. Ryan Heiting was the first of those to lead the way, scooting out to a small lead, while John Roeser moved into the runner-up slot on lap four.  Roeser would duck to the inside of Heiting going down the backstretch on lap five to become the second driver to set the pace in the contest.  Roeser had opened a dozen car length lead by the halfway point over Heiting.

Fast qualifier Ron Magdanz would reach second by lap thirteen and began to close the gap on the leader, who had clear track ahead of him.  Kyle Quella was also on the move reaching third on lap sixteen.

Lap after lap Magdanz would reel in  Roeser closing within a truck length as the white flag flew, however Roeser was able to withstand the pressure and earn his first feature win of the 2007 season.  Magdanz, would settle for a close second less than a length back.  Quella finished solidly in third.  Heiting and Jason Plutz.

FRRC Race Report 7/12/07

An exceptionally large field of 23 Wisconsin Sport Trucks would take the green flag for their main event. Kyle Quella would shoot off his outside front row starting spot to the initial lead as the field jockeyed for positions.  Ryan Heiting and Ron Magdanz would battle for the runner-up spot, with Magdanz using an inside move coming off turn four on lap two to secure the spot.  Current point leader and defending champion Dan Vixmer made his was to third on the following lap.

The first slowdown of the event took place when Nate Ortlieb looped his machine in turn two on lap four.  The caution placed Magdanz and Vixmer within striking distance on the restart.  Running the high line both Magdanz and Vixmer would race past Quella into first and second before the completion on lap five.    Quella would reassert himself and the lead trio of Magdanz, Quella and Vixmer would race in close formation each taking stabs at the lead.

Quella would make a smooth move as lapped traffic came into play blasting back into the top spot on lap 12.  A spin by Josh Jeske on lap 14, would bunch the field a second time setting up a sprint to the finish. Quella chose the outside line for the restart, giving Magdanz the preferred line for the green flag.  The tactic would payoff as Quella shot back into the lead with Vixmer moving into the second spot.  Vixmer however would close the gap and find room under Quella with two laps to go.  Hugging the inside line Vixmer would squirt ahead at the white flag.   Vixmer would fend off Quella for the final trip around the quarter-mile oval to score his fourth feature win of the season.  Quella would settle for second followed by Magdanz, Ryan Heiting and Sam Haven.

FRRC Race Report 7/05/07

Action on the quarter-mile oval included the Wisconsin Sport Trucks, which week after week, thrills fans with their three and four wide racing during the opening laps of their contests.  This week a field of 20 was set for the green flag.   Matt Stake would sit on the pole for the event with Jeff Van Handel to his outside.  Van Handel would get the jump blasting into the lead, while Stake quickly fell back in the pack.  Pat Gorchals would place himself in the second spot by lap two, with Josh Jeske reaching third by lap five.

Van Handel would continue out front with Gorchals, Brandon Kucksdorf, Josh Jeske and Kyle Quella in the top five at the halfway point.  Kucksdorf using the high line replaced Gorchals in second on lap eleven and quickly closed on Van Handel giving Van Handel his first real challenge of the contest.

Quella meanwhile was also making a march forward slipping by Gorchals on lap fourteen to claim third.  Out front Kucksdorf again used the high route to surpass Van Handel for the top spot and moments later Van Handel also fell victim to Quella's charge falling to third.

Over the final few laps Kucksdorf was able to stretch his advantage to eight truck lengths over Quella, who posted his strongest run of 2007 with a second place finish.  Current point leader and defending champion Dan Vixmer would climb to third over the final laps.  John Roeser would earn a fourth place finish and Van Handel held onto the final top five position.

FRRC Race Report 6/28/07

18 Trucks snowmobile engine powered Wisconsin  Sport Trucks buzzed to live for their feature contest.  Scott Baker would assume the lead at the start of the contest building up a solid lead over second place Josh Jeske.  Jeske held down the second spot until lap six, when he lost several spots.  Fast qualifier Ron Magdanz would come to a stop on the front stretch forcing the first caution of the contest.

This allowed Ryan Heiting and defending division champion Dan Vixmer to close up on Baker's rear bumper for the restart. Using the outside line Vixmer would charge to the lead on lap eight.  Baker would bobble slightly the following circuit, giving second to John Roeser.    Vixmer who would have on the first two features of the season had his hands full as Roeser stayed glued tightly to his back bumper awaiting an error which would provide him and opportunity to try and steal the lead.

Brandon Kucksdorf would work into the third slot in the closing laps, but the lead duo had built a quarter-lap lead.  Vixmer would have the pace to win the contest by four lengths over Roeser.  Kucksdorf would settle for third ahead of Ryan Heiting and Baker who would complete the top five.

The Wisconsin Sport Trucks stood at 19 strong when the green flag fell for their first feature contest of the 2007 season.  Kyle Quella, Brandon Kucksdorf and Scott Baker tussled for the lead during the opening rounds, with Baker taking over the top spot on lap two.  Kucksdorf would climb into the second slot on the next circuit and began to close on Baker.

Fast qualifier Dan Vixmer meanwhile was quickly slicing through the field placing himself in the top five  before the fifth circuit of the 20 lap contest.  The lead pair of Baker and Kucksdorf began to encounter lapped traffic at the halfway point, which allowed Vixmer, who had moved into third to close the gap and make it a three truck race for the lead.

Using the outside line Vixmer would surpass both Kucksdorf and Baker in one bold move, powering to the top spot down the backstretch and securing the lead before the stripe on lap 14. Kucksdorf would move into second moments later but Vixmer had already built a solid lead and cruised to the win, completing a sweep of the evening's program.  Kucksdorf would settle for second followed by Baker, Quella and Ryan Heiting in the top five.

In Wisconsin Sport Truck action the featured contest of the evening came to the line with 20 trucks ready for action.  Josh Jeske would outmaneuver Dustin Jaloszynski at the drop of the green flag to take the lead of the contest.  Sam Haven would slip by Jaloszynski for the second spot on lap four with Ron Magdanz and current division point leader Dan Vixmer reaching third and fourth before the first caution of the contest flew on lap five when the ride of Shane Otto shed a wheel and spun on the backstretch.

With the green flag returning Vixmer would make a bolt move to charge into the lead position.  Meanwhile Jeff Van Handel and Kyle Quella were slicing their way through the pack reaching.  As Van Handel was attempting to try for the fourth spot on lap 10,  he made contact with the machine of Jaloszynski, knocking the body loose on his ride and causing him to spin forcing the caution to appear.

The race  would resume with Vixmer charging back to the lead, while Quella and Haven did battle for the runner-up spot.  Brief contact on lap 12 allowed Quella to secure the spot, with Brandon Kucksdorf also working past Haven for third.

With five laps to go Quella began to seek a way past Vixmer testing both the high and low grooves. On the final lap Quella got a run on Vixmer heading down the backstretch, but Vixmer was able to negotiate past a lapped truck quicker in the final two turns to take his fifth feature of the season after winning the first four contests to open the year.  Quella would settle for second followed by Kucksdorf, Haven and Jeske.

With action resuming Heiting was back to setting the pace briefly before Jeff Van Handel snuck past into the lead before the start of lap three.  With point leaders Dan Vixmer and Kyle Quella starting deep in the field most eyes were focused on the pair as they charged through the traffic.  Vixmer would reach the top five on lap nine, but by now Van Handel had built a solid advantage.  Heiting, Jason Plutz and Ron Magdanz led Vixmer at the halfway point.

Van Handel stretched his lead to a straightaway over Heiting by the time Vixmer reached the third spot with five laps to go. Action on the quarter-mile showcased plenty of close quarters racing. The Wisconsin Sport Truck main event would see Tyler Nault and Randy Yaeger square off for the lead during the opening laps.  Yaeger would have the line with the most speed surging ahead on lap two as Nault fell back in the field.  Sam Haven would place himself in second by lap three, with fast qualifier Brandon Kucksdorf making his way to third moments later.

Kucksdorf showing allot of speed quickly disposed of Haven and on lap seven worked the inside of Yaeger for the top spot.

While Kucksdorf set sail, second switched hands again as Yaeger began to fade giving second to Haven and third to current point leader Dan Vixmer by the halfway point of the contest. Kucksdorf would encounter lapped traffic as the contest drew to a close, but he was able to expertly work his way through the back markers without incident.

The Wisconsin Sport Trucks were 21 strong at the drop of the green flag for their feature contest.  Chris Lowenhagen was first to pace the contest working out to an early lead with Jason Plutz on his heels.  Current division point leader Dan Vixmer quickly worked through traffic and into third by lap three making the battle for the lead a three way contest.

Plutz would drift wide on lap six allowing Vixmer to roll by into second.  Vixmer continued his charge working under Lowenhagen at the halfway point of the contest to secure the lead.  Once out front Vixmer would waste little time in pulling away from the pack.  Vixmer's lead was erased on lap 11, when Eric Johnson looped his ride in turn two, forcing a caution and bunching the field for the restart.

Two more laps passed before Lowenhagen went for a loop of the backstretch slowing the contest a second time.  On the restart Vixmer, Brandon Kucksdorf, Jeff Van Handel and fast qualifier Kyle Quella lined up out front for the dash to the checkered.

Sam Haven took the opening lead of the contest while the field sorted itself out.  Some shuffling mid pack left Jeff Van Handel sitting sideways on the raceway in turn three on the second lap necessitating the events first caution flag.

On the restart Haven went back to setting the pace, as Vixmer darted through traffic making several bold moves to place himself in the top five before the next caution flew when Brandon Kucksdorf and Chris Lowenhagen locked horns and went for a spin in turn three on lap four.

This left Haven, Shane Otto, Ron Magdanz and Vixmer out front for the restart.  Haven would again lead the way as Vixmer and fast qualifier Kyle Quella continued their march forward.

This would setup a two lap dash to the finish. Quella would set the pace the final two circuits to earn his first victory of the 2006 racing season.  Van Handle would settle for the runner-up spot followed by Otto, Scott Baker and newcomer Pat Gorchals.

FRRC Race Report 6/08/06

John Giese drove the truck normally piloted by Dan Vixmer to an exciting win in the 20-lap sport truck feature that concluded with plenty of last lap action.

John Roeser led the early laps before Sam Haven took over the top spot, bringing Chris Loewenhagen along with him and into second place. A lap later, while fighting for the lead, Loewenhagen and Haven tangled in turn three and as both trucks spun, Roeser went back to the point. Scott Baker and Brandon Kucksdorf sliced their way forward and both made their way round Roeser for the top two spots by lap ten. Giese also progressed his way forward, moving to third place late in the event. On the final lap, Kucksdorf made an inside move for the lead on Baker, sliding by entering turn one. However, upon the exit of turn two Kucksdorf drifted high and as Baker tried to regain the lead, the two trucks made contact, sending Kucksdorf around. Baker took the checkered flag first but officials deemed his actions in the last lap incident warranted a black flag and Giese was declared the winner. Shane Otto finished in second place while Tyler Nault was third.

Pete Zarnoth and Chris Loewenhagen each claimed victories in the eight lap sport truck heat races.

A field of 20 Wisconsin Sport Trucks accepted the green flag for their feature contest.  Polesitter Shane Otto took the opening lead of the contest with Jason Plutz holding down the runner-up spot through the first six laps. Kucksdorf and Kyle Quella were quickly working their way through traffic and slipped into the second and third spots by lap seven.

Otto's lead would shrink with each passing lap as both Quella and Kucksdorf closed up on his rear bumper.  Quella would shoot to the lead on lap ten with Kucksdorf in tow as Otto began to fall back in the pack.  Once out front Quella was about to increase his over Kucksdorf, but the margin was erased when Chris Lowenhagen looped his ride in turn one bringing out the only caution flag of the race.

The green flag flew with Quella, Kucksdorf, Dan Vixmer, Otto and Plutz holding down the top five positions. Vixmer would jump to the outside line and quickly passed both Kucksdorf and Quella to grab the top spot with six laps to go.  Quella tried to work the high side to regain the lead, but instead the maneuver allowed Kucksdorf a way by and into the runner-up spot.   For the remaining laps Kucksdorf tried to close the margin on Vixmer but he was unable to get within striking distance.

Vixmer would set the pace to the checkered to pick up the checkered, Kucksdorf would finish second two lengths behind.  Quella would lay claim to third followed by  Tyler Nault and Plutz.

The Wisconsin  Sport Trucks presented a full field of 22 vehicles for their 20 lap main event. Tyler Nault set the openingpace for the first three circuits before Jeff Van Handel charged into the top spot on lap four.  Nault would follow in second until with sophomore competitor Kyle Quella holding down third. Quella would secure the second spot moments later and kept close on the tail of Van Handel

Current point leader Todd Schuette was working from deep in the field and had reached the third spot before the first caution flew at the halfway point of the contest when Andy Wilquet came to a stop on the racing surface.

When the race resumed Van Handel, Quella and Schuette went at it for the lead.   Schuette would jump to the outside to surpass Quella, and on the next circuit Schuette went to the low line to grab the top spot from Van Handel as they came out of turn two.  Once out front Schuette began to pull away from Van Handel who continued to be pressured by Quella.

The race was slowed one final time with three laps to go for a multi-truck tangle, and all but Vixmer, the evening's fast qualifier, were able to continue.  The restart did little to slow Schuette's momentum taking the lead, but Quella began to work the low line in effort to take the to spot almost drawing event as the while flag flew.  Schuette however was up to the challenge as he would pull ahead on the final lap for the victory.   Quella would settle for second just ahead of Van Handel.  Nate Ortlieb and Brandon Kucksdorf would complete the top five finishers.

The Wisconsin Sport Trucks were set for their feature contest with 19 vehicles accepting the green flag. Outside front row starter Brandon Kucksdorf would shoot to the opening lead with Tyler Lind, Brandon Wurzer and Todd Schuette giving chase.  Schuette, the current point leader was on the move early reaching second by lap three, with Dan Vixmer in tow.

The tandem of Schuette and Vixmer began to reel in Kucksdorf whose lead shrank with each passing lap.  By the midway point of the race the lead trio were nose to tail.  On the next lap Schuette would bolt ahead on the outside taking over the top spot.  Once clear of traffic Schuette would increase his lead with every trip around the quarter-mile oval.

The Wisconsin  Sport Truck feature race came to the line with 18 tracks accepting the green flag. Tyler Lind would sprint to the initial lead. Nate Ortlieb would secure the second spot from Pete Zarnoth on lap five but before he had a chance to cut into Lind's lead, Ortlieb would receive an unplanned assistance in catching the leader. Lind was back to the lead when the green flag unfurled.  Jeff Van Handel got tot the second spot at the halfway point and quickly closed on the leader.  Before the next  lap began Van Handel surged to the front spot with Ortlieb in tow.

Brandon Kucksdorf and Kyle Quella worked into third and fourth with five laps to go in the contest. Van Handel seeking his first win of the season managed to keep Ortlieb in his tire tracks, while Quella worked into the third slot.  Van Handel received a good deal of pressure over the final laps but would hold on for the victory by a half truck length.  Ortlieb claimed second ahead of a fast closing Quella in third.  Kucksdorf, and Jason Plutz would complete the top five runners.

FRRC Race Report 7/21/05

The Wisconsin Sport Trucks began their 20 lap headliner with 19 trucks taking the opening green.  Title contender Jeff Van Handel shot past Tyler Nault for the opening lead, while Dan Vixmer gave chase passing several trucks to reach second by the end of lap two.  Pete Zarnoth would tag the wall on lap four causing the first caution of the race.

When the race got back underway Van Handel and Vixmer went back at it.  Vixmer used the high line to his advantage and would assume the lead before the end of lap five.  Chris Lowenhagen and Nate Ortlieb would also work by Van Handel who appeared to be off his usual pace.

Vixmer would slide up the lap on lap seven allowing Nate Ortlieb to take over the point, a similar bobble on the next lap by Vixmer, allowed a fast moving Todd Schuette to move into second.  Vixmer was able to regain control to fall back into line in third. The lead trio was able to click off some fast laps following nose to tail.

With six laps to go Schuette would find an opening under Ortlieb to gain the top spot for the first time.  Further back, fast qualifier Kyle Quella was quickly slicing through the pack reaching fourth.  When Ortlieb and Vixmer went wide with five laps to go, Quella would dart to the inside and take over the second position.

The dash to the checkered would be decided between Schuette and Quella who managed to close and challenge for the lead, but Schuette was able to repel the challenges of young charger Quella.  The victory was Schuette's sixth of the year.  Quella's second place run was the best of his career in weekly racing action.  Ortlieb, Vixmer and Van Handel would comprise the top five finishers.

FRRC Race Report 7/14/05

The diminutive Wisconsin Sport Trucks are small on size but big on action.  The snowmobile engine powered mini-trucks came to the green flag 19 strong on the inner quarter-mile oval.  Scott Baker and Tyler Lind fought for the early lead in the contest with Baker getting the upper hand.  Chris Lowenhagen, Todd Schuette and current point leader Jeff Van Handel joined the fray at the front of the pack.  Lind would begin to lose momentum and in the change of positions on lap five, Schuette would rumble to second.

Baker would see his lead slowly disappear as Schuette began to contest the top spot on lap seven.  Working the outside line Schuette bolted into the lead on the eighth circuit as he began to pull away.

The battle for second became a three way tussle between Van Handel, Baker and last week's feature winner Dan Vixmer at the halfway point of the contest.

Driving hard into the turns Vixmer would surpass Baker for the runner-up spot with six laps to go in the race.  But the battle between he and Baker had allowed Schuette to build an insurmountable lead.  The victory was the fifth feature win of the season for Schuette. Vixmer won out on the hard fought battle for second followed by Baker, Van Handel and Josh Jeske in the top five.

FRRC Race Report 7/7/05

The diminutive Wisconsin Sport Trucks may be small in stature but they were big on action this evening again this evening with 19 of the snowmobile engine powered machines taking to the track for their feature contest.  16 year old rookie Jason Plutz started on the pole and raced side by side with Nate Ortlieb during the opening laps.  Ortlieb would gather up the lead on the second circuit.  Dan Vixmer who won his heat race earlier in the evening swept by Plutz for the second spot on lap five.

Vixmer then closed the gap on Ortlieb reaching his rear bumper by the halfway point of the race.  Brandon Kucksdorf would follow in the third position closing as the lead pair would begin to battle.  A yellow flag on lap 11, slowed the action when Tyler Lind spun while running fifth.

Underway again Ortlieb and Vixmer went back to contesting the lead. Vixmer immediately took to the outside and shot into the lead as the green flag unfurled pulling away from the field.  A wild scramble ensued for the second position with Jeff Van Handel coming away with the spot followed by Kucksdorf and Baker.

With no further cautions to slow his pace Vixmer would cruise to a comfortable win, his second of the season.  Van Handel would cross the line in second a fair distance back.  Van Handel would reside in third followed by Kucksdorf, Todd Schuette and Ortlieb.

Wisconsin Sport Truck feature action hit the quarter-mile oval with 19 tracks accepting the green flag, Josh Jeske making his debut in the division would set the initial pace. Brandon Wurzer would take over the top spot on lap two, bringing Scott Baker with him to second.  Todd Schuette and Dan Vixmer were also working quickly through the field reaching the top five quickly.  Schuette wasted little time in getting to the front as he would work the outside line to take the lead on lap six.  Baker remained in contention doing battle with Vixmer for the runner-up spot until the first caution of the race flew when Ryan Heiting came to a stop in turn three.

Underway again Schuette was back to the lead, with  Jeff Van Handel the current point leader in the division coming into the evening holding the fifth spot.  Van Handel would make progress climbing to third with five laps to go in the contest, chasing the lead duo of Schuette and Vixmer. Van Handel would gain another spot reaching second with three laps to go, but Schuette has built a quarter-lap lead by that point and he would race to the checkered unchallenged.

FRRC Race Report 6/23/05

The Wisconsin Sport Trucks hit the quarter-mile oval for their main event. Rookie Tyler Mault set the initial pace in the contest, before Nate Ortlieb took over the top spot on lap two.  Ortlieb found himself being challenged by a trio including Andy Wilquet, Todd Schuette and Jason Van Handel, when the caution appeared when fast qualifier Kyle Quella rolled slowly onto his roof after spinning on the backstretch on lap four. Quella was uninjured in the incident.

Ortlieb again took over the top spot on the restart, but the big mover was Dan Vixmer who worked into second on lap six before squirting into the top spot the following lap.  Schuette would go to second at Ortlieb's expense the following lap.

Vixmer's time at the front was short lived as Schuette completed his charge on lap 11 annexing the top spot.  Vixmer would give chase in second but was unable to keep pace with Schuette through the balance of the contest.  At the checkered Schuette held a six car length lead for the victory.  Vixmer would settle for second followed by Ortlieb, Van Handel in the top four spots.  A last lap tangle between trucks doing battle for fifth allowed Pete Zarnoth to slip past for the position.

FRRC Race Report 6/16/05

The Wisconsin Sport Trucks Tyler Lind and Donald Jaloszynski ran side by side for the opening rounds, before Nate Ortlieb split the lead pair and took over the top spot on lap two.  Meanwhile Todd Schuette who won the first two features this season was already up to the fifth spot by the third circuit.  Fast qualifier Jeff Van Handel followed Schuette's every move working through traffic.

Ortlieb continued to set the pace through the mid portion of the race with Vixmer,  fast qualifier Jeff Van Handel, Jason Van Handel and Schuette holding the top five at the halfway point of the contest.

Ortlieb's lead was precarious as Vixmer and Jeff Van Handel each sought a way to the front.  Vixmer using the high line managed to work into the lead with seven laps to go in the contest.  Once out front Vixmer began to pull away from the field behind him.

FRRC Race Report 6/2/05

The Wisconsin Sport Trucks took to the raceway with 19 of the snowmobile powered mini-trucks taking the green flag.  An opening race tangle between Dan Vixmer and Chris Lowenhagen dropped the field to 17 for the restart.  Scott Baker would assume the lead when all out racing began. Rick Jaloszynski, Nate Ortlieb and Jeff Van Handel all diced for second, while last weeks feature winner Todd Schuette was slicing through traffic from his 11th place starting spot, making the top five by lap three bringing Kyle Quella with him.

The torrid battle for the second spot allowed Baker to gain an ever increasing lead.  Schuette using both the upper and lower lines craftily worked into second by lap 11, but by now Baker had a dozen car length lead.

Schuette however appeared to have the fastest vehicle on the track, closing to his rear bumper with seven laps to go.  Schuette then worked to the outside of Baker through turns three and four the following laps to take the top spot.

Once out front Schuette began to extend his lead.  Baker meanwhile found himself having to defend his second position as Van Handel applied the pressure. Schuette would reach the finish uncontested taking his second straight win.  In the final turns Baker and Van Handel exchanged paint with Baker holding onto the second spot by a matter of inches.  Van Handel would settle for third followed by Jaloszynski and Quella.

FRRC Race Report 5/26/05

A field of 18 presented for the Wisconsin Sport Truck main event. Rick Jalosynski and rookie Share Otto did battle for the initial lead of the main event with Jalosynski getting the upper hand after the opening circuit.  Otto maintained the second spot until  lap five when Nate Ortlieb maneuvered to his outside to grab second.  Two laps later Ortlieb snared the top position from Jalosynski who began to fade.  Meanwhile fast qualifier Kyle Quella was quickly working through the field.  Quella found himself in the second spot before the first caution flew on lap 9  for a spin by Tyler Lind.

Underway again Ortlieb set the pace with Quella and last season's point runner-up Todd Schuette making up the top three positions.  When the green flag flew Schuette jumped to the outside line and overhauled both Quella and Ortlieb to take command of the contest.  Ortlieb began to be pressured by Quella who would work to his inside on lap 13 to battle for second.  Unfortunately Quella spun off turn two forcing a yellow and ending a solid run, having to restart from the tail of the field.

This left Schuette in command with Ortlieb and Jeff Vanhandel now in pursuit.  Vanhandel, the brother of last years division champion Jason Vanhandel disposed of Ortlieb and quickly set out after Schuette.  Schuette however was up to the task of defending his lead taking the victory by 4 car lengths.  Vanhandel would settle for second.  Ortlieb would hold onto third and Quella put on a brilliant charge to fly back through the field to claim fourth at the wire.  Scott Baker would complete the top five finishers.

Baker started to pull away from the field while the evening's fast qualifier Jason Van Handel made his way pa's Kucksdorf for second on lap eight. Todd Schuette worked his way into third at the halfway point.

Baker's lead on Van Handel evaporated quickly as Van Handel pulled up on his rear bumper. Baker held fast to the lead until seven laps remained in the race, when Van Handel worked by on the outside. Baker would stalk Van Handel until two laps remained when he did a quick spin on the backstretch turning second over to Schuette.

Van Handel would collect his ninth checkered by a comfortable margin over Schuette. Andy Wilquet who won a heat race earlier in the evening claimed third.

FRRC Race Report 8/26/04

Brandon Kucksdorf and Dan Magdanz made up the front row of the Wisconsin Sport Truck main event, with Magdanz edging out front to set the pace. Meanwhile point contenders Todd Schuette and Jason Van Handel were slicing through the traffic. Van Handel was the first of the pair to reach the top five making the position on lap nine. Van Handel then ducked under Pete Zarnoth for second on lap ten. The very next lap Van Handel would work to the inside of Magdanz for the top spot.

With Van Handel out front, Schuette was having a more difficult time negotiating traffic. For Van Handel the remaining distance proved to be easy, taking the victory by a quarter lap. The win, his eighth of the year, established a single season win record for the Wisconsin Sport Trucks, besting the previous effort of Mike Schneider who won seven events during the 1997 season. Magdanz would spend the closing laps trying to fend off Zarnoth and Schuette. Zarnoth would garner the runner-up finish with an inside move on the final lap. Magdanz would fend off Schuette for third. Schuette crossed the line in fourth, barely edging out Scott Baker who completed the top five.

In Wisconsin Sport Track action, Todd Schuette would earn his fifth feature win of the season.  Current  point leader Jason Van Handel would overcome a early race spin, but with Schuette taking the victory he narrowed the gap on Van Handel down to 26 markers.

The Wisconsin Sport Trucks had but a single caution, but it was for an amazing flip by Dan Vixmer on lap four.  While doing battle mid pack, Vixmer spun off the backstretch, sliding though the grass before flipping. His machine shed it's entire body before coming to rest on it's wheels still running.  Vixmer left the racing surface under power and stopped by the ambulance for a checkup after the accident.

When racing resumed Nate Ortlieb held command until lap six when Kyle Quella took over the top spot.  Quella then set the pace for the next two circuits before Schuette worked into the lead and sprinted away from the field for a comfortable victory.  Scott Baker would grab second on the final lap with Brandon Kucksdorf, Quella and point leader Van Handel in the top five finishers.

With the season winding down, the point chase in the Wisconsin Sport Trucks will likely be determined between current point leader Jason Van Handel, and his nearest rival Todd Schuette. They would start in the fifth row of their 20 lap main event. Polesitter Andy Wilquet would lead the opening laps while Van Handel and Schuette sliced through the pack.

Van Handel found himself in second by lap four, quickly closing in on Wilquet for the top spot. Schuette mired in traffic took longer to reach the front, managed to get second by the sixth lap. Van Handel sliced under Wilquet for the top spot on lap eight and began to pull away from the pack.

Schuette would reach Wilquet's rear bumper at the halfway point, before working to his outside to gain the runner-up spot with 8 laps to go. As the laps ran down Schuette did manage to close the gap on Van Handel. Schuette did manage to rear the rear bumper of Van Handel as the white flag flew but Van Handel was up to the challenge taking his fourth straight and seventh overall win of the season.

Van Handel meanwhile had built up a straightaway lead on Baker. Schuette climbed into the third slot with five laps remaining. A late caution for a spin by Dan Magdanz on the backstretch with two laps to go bunched the field and placed Baker and Schuette on Van Handel's rear bumper for the restart.

When the green flag flew contact between Baker and Schuette, caused the field to stack up behind them with several trucks getting together forcing the yellow to fly gain. On the following restart Jason Van Handel held the top spot over Baker and Jeff Van Handel .
